Who is Ivy?

I’m a big fan of recycling and working in an environmentally manor. If I can I will work with recycled and waste material and use charity and vintage shops. I try to keep well stocked of recycled materials and will always try to salvage and reuse wood, both sheets and timber.

From April 2016 until August 2018 I was an apprentice site carpenter. I worked on housing sites across the West Midlands. I studied at college for this apprenticeship and learnt many skills on site. I have also worked with Presentation Design Services as a site carpenter and with Rocket Scenery in their workshop

I have a few FDM 3D printers that I use for my theatre and freelance work. I have made props, brackets for construction, and decorations that have been moulded and cast.
-
I have an understanding of ETC lighting desks, QLabs, MadMapper, and rigging. My training has come from both studying Theatre Design at NTU and being a technician at the university in the Immersive Media department.
-
I have a strong understanding of some of the Adobe Suite. Including: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I’ve used this for image manipulation, logo making, and programs for theatre shows.
-
With the use of both SketchUp and AutoCAD I am able to transfer a model and design into technical drawings. My technical ability in SketchUp allows me both to design and create a better understanding of a model, ready for construction. I also use Fusion360 for 3D modeling for bespoke tools and parts. Sometimes that is designing jigs for construction, brackets for tooling or sometimes props.

I do a lot of textiles work both for hobbies and theatre. This has been clothing/costume repair and alteration, curtains, and clothing construction. I have also dabbled in crochet, making lots of crocheted pieces to replicate moss. I’m a big fan of working with leather and have created pouches, cases, labels, and have used leather to repair/altar aprons and work equipment.

I’m a big fan of puppetry, both as a performer and spectator. I have worked with City Arts Nottingham for a lot of puppetry work. Quite often will I be a part of their puppet parades for all kinds of events around Nottingham. This usually involves assembling and driving large scale puppetry.
I’m a freelance theatre designer, maker, and technician based in Nottingham. I studied Theatre Design at NTU, and work there as a bank staff technician. I love learning new skills and techniques in a variety of disciplines which I find allows me to see and solve problems with a different perspective.
